Ten on Tuesday: Mistral Dawn

Bound By the Summer PrinceToday I am interviewing Mistral Dawn, author of  Taken by the Huntsman and Bound by the Summer Prince

You write paranormal romance. Do you read it as well?

Absolutely!!! 🙂  My favorite genres are Sci-Fi/Fantasy/Paranormal and Sci-Fi/Fantasy/Paranormal romance.  Can’t get enough of this stuff! 🙂

Is there an author that makes you strive to be a better writer? Who is it and why?

I want to be a better writer for my readers more than for other authors (unless they also read my books).  It’s important to me that the people who read my books are able to enjoy them. 🙂

What do you think you bring to your books that makes you unique?

Well, I try to insert little things in my stories that will make readers thing, and hopefully examine their own beliefs. I never mean to preach to anyone, or try to change their beliefs, I only want people to think about what they believe and why.  🙂

What is that one moment you have had as a writer that made you realize you were actually a real author?

The first time I sold a book to someone I didn’t know! 🙂

What started you on the path to becoming an author?

It’s actually pretty funny.  I had never considered becoming an author until I had a dream and woke up with the idea for Taken By The Huntsman.  When I shared it with a friend, she said she was interested in reading the whole story. So I wrote it. 🙂

How did you work your advertising and build your following?

Well, I spend a lot of time on Twitter and Facebook, and have met a bunch of truly amazing people that way.  But really, I’m still trying to build a following. I’d love it if people contacted me and let me know how they heard about my books and what they thought. 🙂

As an author, what is that one memory that will always stick with you?

The first time someone posted a review of my book and said they loved it. 🙂

How have your aspirations as a writer changed over time?

Well, when I first started I thought I would just write one book. But while I was writing it, a bunch of characters informed me that there were more stories to tell, so I guess I’ll be writing those too.  I really hope that I start selling enough books that I can focus on writing full-time, so I don’t keep my readers (or my characters) waiting. 😉

Have you quit your day job yet or are you planning to anytime in the future?

I’d love to be able to quit work other than writing, but so far that’s just not a possibility. 😉

What drives a romance for you and makes it something you want to read/write?

I like it when the main characters have to overcome their preconceived notions and realize that things aren’t as they thought they were. 🙂

What are you working on now?

I’m planning to release Bound By The Summer Prince, my second novel, before the end of February, and then there is a short story I want to write before starting on my third novel about the Winter Court king and his soul-mate. 🙂

*Update, Bound by the Summer Prince is available now! I’m currently reading it, look for my review in the next week or so.

Tell us a little about your previous works and how we can get our hands on them.
